Background Information: What is the purpose of the race?
Ruth’s Race 5K Walk & Run is an event to promote physical fitness, the sport of running, generate funds for a H.O.L.T. Scholarship in memory of the late Ruth Pridgeon, and raise awareness about pancreatic cancer.
Ruth (Coach Pridge as she was known by her athletes) was a dedicated teacher and coach for Holt Public Schools before Pancreatic Cancer took her from us when she was far too young to leave. When Coach Pridge passed, she left a gaping hole in the lives of her students, her athletes, her friends, and her family.
Ruth’s Race is a tribute to Coach Pridge, to develop funds for a H.O.L.T. Scholarship that will assist deserving students achieve their goals at higher education institutions. The H.O.L.T. Scholarship Program is a donor-supported project to help qualifying students in the Holt Public School District receive an advanced education opportunity.
